Apple Butter Cake
Ingredients:
Cake:
- 1 cup (2 sticks / 227 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (245 g) whole milk, room temperature
- ½ cup (125 g) apple butter
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (200 g) light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
Frosting:
- ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 4 cups (500 g) confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup (60 g) apple cider
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, whole milk, and apple butter; mix well.
3. Add the granulated sugar, light brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the wet ingredients. Beat until smooth and creamy.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and apple pie spice.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting: beat the softened butter until creamy.
9. Gradually add the confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and apple cider, beating until smooth and fluffy.
10. Allow the cake to cool completely before spreading the frosting evenly over the top.
