Get ready for the perfect combination of spice and sweetness with these Big Soft Ginger Cookies! They’re soft, chewy, and full of warm ginger flavor, making them an ideal treat for any occasion.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons white sugar
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 large egg
¼ cup molasses
1 tablespoon water
Directions:

Preheat Oven: Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place 2 tablespoons of sugar in a small bowl and set aside for later use.
Sift Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, ground ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
Cream Butter and Sugar: Using a large bowl and an electric mixer, beat together the softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then mix in the molasses and water.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually incorporate the sifted dry ingredients into the wet molasses mixture, stirring until the dough is evenly mixed.
Shape and Sugar Coat: With floured hands, form the dough into 24 walnut-sized balls. Roll each ball in the reserved sugar to coat thoroughly. Place the sugared balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets, and gently flatten them with the bottom of a glass.
Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, making sure to switch the racks halfway through for even baking.
Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
These cookies are perfect for any time of year, but they especially shine during the holiday season! Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee for the ultimate cozy treat. 🌟
