Creamy Ricotta Garlic Butter Beef and Pasta Skillet

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lb pasta (penne, rotini, or your favorite shape)

Directions:

1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
3. Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 1 minute more.
4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, or until sauce has thickened slightly.
5. Stir in ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and basil. Reduce heat to low and stir in butter until melted and creamy.
6. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Serve immediately.
