Beer-battered Fish and Chips πΊππ
Ingredients:
4 white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup cold beer (or sparkling water for non-alcoholic)
4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
Vegetable oil for frying
Lemon wedges, for serving
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
For the chips: Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Fry the potato fries in batches for about 5-6 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
For the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the cold beer, whisking until smooth and slightly thickened.
Heat the oil again to 375Β°F (190Β°C) for frying the fish.
Dip the fish fillets into the batter, making sure they are fully coated, then carefully lower them into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes, or until the fish is golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve the crispy beer-battered fish with the homemade chips. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh parsley if desired.
