2 medium apples (about 250g), peeled and grated
1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour

½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
½ cup (120g) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
½ cup (100g) brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup (120ml) buttermilk
1 cup (100g) chopped walnuts (optional)
For the Glaze:
1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter, melted
2 tbsp (30ml) milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
