Ingredients:
1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional, for a slight tang)
2 tbsp butter
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
In a large skillet or pan, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.
Add the diced onion to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring well to coat in the bacon grease. Season with smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
Stir in the cooked bacon and butter, mixing well. If using, add the apple cider vinegar and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
