🦀 Real Maryland Crab Soup 🍲
A hearty and flavorful soup with tender crab, fresh vegetables, and Old Bay seasoning—a true classic!
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup diced onion
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced celery
1 cup green beans, trimmed and chopped
1 cup diced potatoes
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
4 cups chicken or seafood stock
1/2 cup frozen corn
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 lb lump crab meat
2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add onion, carrots, and celery. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened.
2️⃣ Build the Base:
Add diced potatoes, green beans, and diced tomatoes (with juices).
Pour in the chicken or seafood stock, and bring the mixture to a boil.
3️⃣ Simmer the Soup:
Reduce heat to medium-low, add Old Bay seasoning and Worcestershire sauce.
Cover and simmer for 20–25 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.
4️⃣ Add Crab and Finish:
Stir in crab meat, corn, and peas. Simmer for an additional 5–7 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:
Ladle into bowls, sprinkle with extra Old Bay, and serve with crusty bread.
