Krispy Kremes 🍩😋
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
• 3 tablespoons Milk
• 3 tablespoons Boiling water
• 1 teaspoon Dry active yeast
• 8 ounces All-purpose flour (slightly less than 2 cups)
• 1 1/2 ounces Sugar (Approximately 3 tablespoons)
• 1 Egg
• 1 ounce Butter (Cold to room temperature)
• Dash of Salt
• Oil (enough to cover a couple of inches in the bottom of a wok or fryer)
For the Glaze:
• 1/3 cup Butter
• 2 cups Powdered sugar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
• 4 tablespoons Hot water (or as needed)
Instructions:
1. Combine milk and boiling water, add a teaspoon of sugar, ensuring the temperature is not above 110 degrees. Add yeast and let it sit in a warm place to foam (approximately 10 minutes).
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until it resembles crumbs.
3. Beat the egg and add it to the flour mixture along with the yeast mixture. Beat until smooth.
4. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until it is springy and has little bubbles under the surface.
5. Cover the dough and let it rise for an hour or until it doubles in size.
6. Divide the dough into 4 pieces and form long ropes about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Cut 1-inch pieces and form balls. Cover the donut holes and let them rise while heating the oil to 375 degrees.
7. Fry the dough balls until golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes. Drain on a paper towel.
8. For the glaze, melt butter and mix it with powdered sugar, vanilla, and hot water until smooth. Glaze the donut holes while they are still warm.
Notes:
• It is recommended to weigh the flour for accuracy; if using a measuring cup, start with 1 1/2 cups and add more as needed.
