Italian Compound Butter
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, finely chopped
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Optional: 1 finely minced shallot
Directions:
Soften the Butter: Allow the butter to sit at room temperature until it softens and is easy to mix.
Combine Ingredients: Add the minced garlic, chopped parsley, basil, oregano, rosemary, lemon juice, and any optional ingredients (Parmesan, red pepper flakes, shallot) to the softened butter.
Mix Thoroughly: Use a fork or electric mixer to blend all ingredients together, ensuring everything is evenly distributed.
Shape the Butter: Place the butter mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Shape it into a log or roll.
Chill: Wrap the butter tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until firm.
Serve: Slice the chilled compound butter and serve with bread, grilled meats, vegetables, or pasta.
