Delicious German Chocolate Cake!

Sheet Cake version

Recipe:
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark cocoa powder
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup apple sauce
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup neutral oil
Toppings:
1 pack shredded coconut (12-14 oz)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 tsp salt
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup crushed pecans or walnuts
Steps:
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a large bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, add milk, oil, vanilla extract, eggs, sugar, apple sauce. Using a hand mixer, blends in well till smooth. Add cocoa powder and instant coffee. Mix and blend until combined. Then, add the flour mixture. Mix with spatula until combine.
Grease a 9x13 baking pan. Then, pour the cake batter. Bake in the oven (middle) for 27-30 minutes. Remove from oven and let it cool.
While baking, we make the toppings.
In a saucepan, add milk, butter, coconut flakes, salt and vanilla. Mix and combine till bubbly. Then, add the egg yolks. Mix well until thickens. Add crust pecans. Mix well and remove from heat. Pour it on top of the chocolate cake.
