Gooey Chocolate Toffee Squares
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup toffee bits
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
6. Fold in toffee bits and chocolate chips, reserving a small handful for topping.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
8. Sprinkle the reserved toffee bits and chocolate chips over the top.
9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
10. Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
