Deliciously Herbed Crispy Tofu Cubes – Easy & Versatile 💪
Ingredients:
1 block (14 oz / 400g) Extra-Firm Tofu, well-pressed
2 tablespoons (30ml) Olive Oil or Avocado Oil
1 tablespoon (15ml) Soy Sauce or Tamari
1 tablespoon (15g) Cornstarch
1 tablespoon (15g) Nutritional Yeast (optional, for cheesy flavor)
1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
Salt to taste
Directions:
1. Prepare Tofu: Press the tofu block very well to remove excess water (using a tofu press or weights). Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 1 inch / 2.5 cm).
2. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Marinate Tofu: In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce/tamari, cornstarch, nutritional yeast (if using), dried rosemary, dried thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt.
4. Coat Tofu: Add the tofu cubes to the bowl with the marinade. Toss gently until all the cubes are evenly coated.
5. Bake Tofu: Spread the coated tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they aren't overcrowded.
6. Bake: Bake for 25-35 minutes, flipping the cubes halfway through, until they are golden brown, crispy on the outside, and slightly firm on the inside. Baking time may vary depending on your oven and desired crispiness.
7. Serve: Serve hot as a snack, added to salads, bowls, stir-fries, or wraps.
