Yule Log Cake recipe, a chocolate lover's holiday dream:

Ingredients

1. Cake:
1. 2 1/4 cups (285g) all-purpose flour
2. 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
3. 3/4 cup (85g) unsweetened cocoa powder
4. 2 teaspoons baking powder
5. 1 teaspoon salt
6. 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
7. 4 large eggs, separated
8. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2. Buttercream:
1. 1 cup (200g) unsalted butter, softened
2. 2 cups (400g) confectioners' sugar
3. 1/2 cup (115g) unsweetened cocoa powder
4. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3. Decorations:
1. Confectioners' sugar (for dusting)
2. Fresh holly or mistletoe (optional)
3. Chocolate shavings or chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat: 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 10x15-inch (25x38cm) jelly roll pan.
2. Prepare cake: Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk butter and egg yolks. Add vanilla.
3. Beat egg whites: Until stiff peaks form. Fold into cake mixture.
4. Pour batter: Into prepared pan. Smooth top.
5. Bake: 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool 5 minutes.
6. Roll cake: Dust with confectioners' sugar. Roll tightly, starting from long side.
7. Prepare buttercream: Beat butter, confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla.
8. Assemble: Unroll cake. Spread buttercream evenly. Reroll tightly.
9. Decorate: Dust with confectioners' sugar. Add holly, mistletoe or chocolate shavings.
