🍫 Ultra-Moist Chocolate Loaf Cake
A soft, rich chocolate loaf soaked in glossy chocolate sauce — perfectly fudgy, tender, and irresistible.
🧁 Ingredients
For the chocolate loaf cake:
• 120ml (½ cup) neutral oil (sunflower or canola)
• 200g (1 cup) granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 180ml (¾ cup) milk
• 160g (1 ¼ cups) all-purpose flour
• 50g (½ cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 ½ tsp baking powder
• ¼ tsp salt
• 60ml (¼ cup) hot water or brewed coffee (enhances the chocolate flavor)
For the chocolate soaking sauce:
• 120ml (½ cup) milk
• 100g (½ cup) sugar
• 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
• 40g (about 3 tbsp) butter
• Optional: 50g dark chocolate (for extra richness)
Optional toppings:
• Chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
• Grated chocolate or cocoa powder for garnish
• Crushed nuts (hazelnuts or walnuts)
• Fresh berries or whipped cream (for serving)
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Make the loaf cake:
1 Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9×5-inch (23×13 cm) loaf pan with parchment.
2 In a large bowl, whisk together oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
3 Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir until just combined.
4 Add hot water or coffee and mix until smooth. The batter will be runny — that’s good!
5 Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
6 Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then poke small holes in the top with a skewer or fork.
2. Prepare the soaking sauce:
1 In a small saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and butter.
2 Heat over medium, stirring, until it just starts to bubble and everything is melted and smooth.
3 Optional: Stir in chopped dark chocolate for extra richness.
4 Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
3. Soak the cake:
1 While the cake is still slightly warm, pour the chocolate sauce slowly over the top.
2 Let it soak in — the cake will absorb the sauce and become deliciously moist and glossy.
3 Let the cake cool fully in the pan, then transfer to a plate or serving tray.
4. Decorate & Serve:
• Top with chocolate shavings, powdered sugar, or a drizzle of extra ganache.
• Slice and serve on its own, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh berries.
