Double Patty BBQ Mac and Cheese Burger

Ingredients:

For the Burger:

1 lb ground beef (for 2 patties)

4 slices cheddar cheese

2 large onion rings (store-bought or homemade)

2 fried mac and cheese balls (see below for recipe)

2 tbsp barbecue sauce

2 tbsp mayonnaise

2 brioche buns, lightly toasted

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Fried Mac and Cheese Balls:

1 cup cooked macaroni

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

1 egg

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 tbsp flour

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

Prepare the Fried Mac and Cheese Balls:

In a mixing bowl, combine cooked macaroni, shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan, and flour. Mix well.

Beat the egg and add it to the mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.

Roll the mixture into small balls (about 1-inch in diameter).

Coat the balls in breadcrumbs and fry them in hot oil (350°F/175°C) until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside to drain on paper towels.

Cook the Burger Patties:

Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape it into two equal-sized patties.

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger:

Place a cooked beef patty on the bottom half of each toasted brioche bun.

Top with a fried mac and cheese ball, followed by an onion ring.

Drizzle barbecue sauce over the top, then add a dollop of mayonnaise.

Place the second beef patty on top and close the bun.

Serve:

Serve immediately, and enjoy the rich, messy, and flavorful burger!
