Quick and Easy Homemade Cornbread
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or a similar sized cast-iron skillet.
2. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, and egg until well blended.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
