Honey Cinnamon Roll-Ups
Ingredients:
- 2 cups ground walnuts, toasted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 12 sheets frozen phyllo dough, thawed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Syrup:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a bowl, mix ground walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush with butter again. Repeat until you have a stack of 4 sheets.
4. Cut the layered phyllo into 3 equal strips.
5. Place 1-2 tablespoons of the walnut mixture at one end of each strip and roll up tightly.
6. Place the roll-ups seam side down on a baking sheet and brush the tops with more melted butter.
7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
8. While the roll-ups are baking, prepare the syrup by combining honey, sugar, water, and lemon juice in a saucepan.
9. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
10. Remove the roll-ups from the oven and immediately drizzle with the warm syrup.
11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
