Pizza Chips

Ingredients:

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Optional toppings: pepperoni slices, sausage crumbles, sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, etc.

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
2. Lightly flour a clean work surface. Roll out the pizza dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. If using a pre-made dough, carefully unroll it onto the floured surface.
3. Using a pizza cutter, a knife, or even a cookie cutter, cut the dough into small, roughly 2-3 inch squares or circles. The size is up to you; smaller pieces will cook faster.
4. Arrange the dough pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
5. In a small bowl, combine the pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
6. Using a spoon or a small pastry brush, spread a thin layer of the cheese and sauce mixture evenly over each dough piece. Don't overload them; you want a thin, crispy chip.
7. If using additional toppings, sprinkle them evenly over the sauce and cheese. Remember that less is more, especially with toppings that add moisture.
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the pizza chips are golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on them, as oven temperatures can vary. They may need a minute or two less or more depending on your oven.
9. Once baked, remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the pizza chips cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This allows them to crisp up further and prevents them from becoming soggy.
10. Serve warm and enjoy! These are delicious on their own as a snack or as a fun appetizer.
