Skillet Creamy Spicy Cajun Steak & Cheddar Pasta

Ingredients:

1 lb sirloin steak, cut into strips
2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
For the Pasta:
12 oz penne pasta (or your preferred pasta)
3 tbsp butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/4 cup of pasta water.
Season the steak: In a bowl, mix the Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Coat the steak strips evenly with the seasoning mixture.
Cook the steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak strips and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
Make the creamy sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine, and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Add the cheese: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese, allowing them to melt into the sauce. Season with cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
Combine the pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing it in the creamy cheese sauce until the pasta is well-coated.
Finish the dish: Return the cooked steak to the skillet and toss everything together. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot.
