Double Crunch Honey Garlic Chicken Breasts
Crispy fried chicken breasts coated in a flavorful blend of spices and finished with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. A perfect combination of crunchy texture and rich flavor, ideal for any dinner.
Ingredients:
4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 cups flour
4 tsp salt
4 tsp black pepper
3 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp freshly ground nutmeg
2 tsp ground thyme
2 tsp ground sage
1 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp paprika
4 eggs
8 tbsp water
2 tbsp olive oil
3 to 4 cloves minced garlic
1 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
Canola oil for frying
Directions:
Flatten the chicken breasts to 1/2 inch thick by placing them between two pieces of plastic wrap.
In a bowl, sift together the flour, salt, pepper, and all the spices. Set aside half of the flour mixture for future use.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and water to create an egg wash.
Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dip each piece in the flour mixture, then the egg wash, and coat again in the flour mixture.
Heat canola oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until crispy and golden brown.
For the sauce: Heat olive oil in a separate pan over medium heat, and sauté the minced garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the honey and soy sauce, then bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve the crispy chicken breasts topped with the honey garlic sauce.
Oven-Baked Version:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lightly greasing it with oil.
Prepare the chicken breasts as described above (season, dip in flour, egg wash, and flour again).
Place the chicken on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Flip the chicken and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, until golden and crispy.
Serve with the honey garlic sauce.
