This Lasagna Is So Good, It Becomes Everyone's New Favorite
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork sausage
1/2 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1/4 cup red wine (optional, for depth of flavor)
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
12 lasagna noodles, cooked
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Prepare the sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Add ground beef and sausage, breaking it up as it cooks. Once browned, stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine (if using), oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Mix the ricotta filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, half of the Parmesan, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of noodles, followed by a third of the ricotta mixture, and a third of the mozzarella. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of sauce and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake the lasagna: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Let rest: Let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
