Biscuits & Gravy Cheese Bake
Ingredients:
- 1 can (16 oz) of refrigerated biscuits (or homemade biscuits)
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (or ground beef/pork)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups heavy cream or milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish (9x13 inches).
2. Cook the sausage: In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic; cook until softened. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
3. Make the gravy: Gradually whisk in heavy cream or milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 3-5 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and paprika if using.
4. Layer biscuits: Place the biscuits evenly in the prepared baking dish.
5. Pour gravy: Spoon the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuits.
6. Add cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
7. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
8. Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot.
