Instructions:Prepare the Steak:
Season the steak: In a bowl, toss the steak cubes with olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
Cook the steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak cubes in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Add a tablespoon of butter at the end and toss the steak cubes in the butter to finish.
Make the Mashed Potatoes:
3. Boil the potatoes: In a large pot, add the peeled and chopped potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender.4. Mash the potatoes: Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the heavy cream, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
Prepare the Broccoli:
5. Cook the broccoli: Steam the broccoli florets in a steamer basket or cook in boiling water for 3-5 minutes until tender. Alternatively, sauté in a pan with butter for about 5 minutes, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
Make the Cheddar Biscuits:6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
7. Prepare the biscuit dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.8. Add the cheese and milk: Stir in the cheddar cheese and milk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
9. Form the biscuits: Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.10. Bake the biscuits: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
Assemble the Meal:
11. Plate the meal: Place a scoop of mashed potatoes on the plate, top with the seared steak cubes, and serve with the steamed broccoli and a cheddar biscuit on the side.
Pro Tip:
For extra flavor, you can drizzle a little gravy over the steak and mashed potatoes.
