Surf and Turf Feast with Mashed Potatoes and Veggies
Indulge in a delicious combination of perfectly cooked steak, succulent shrimp, and creamy mashed potatoes with Brussels sprouts for a luxurious meal that feels like a celebration.
Ingredients:
For the Steak:
- 2 ribeye steaks, 10 ounces each
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
For the Shrimp:
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon garlic butter (for shrimp)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
For the Sides:
- 2 cups prepared mashed potatoes
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon butter (for mashed potatoes)
- 1 cup Brussels sprouts, halved
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions:
Start by preparing the steaks. Pat the steaks dry and season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Once hot, sear the steaks for 4 to 5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time for your preferred doneness. After cooking, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes.
While the steaks are resting, cook the shrimp. In the same skillet, melt the garlic butter. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp, seasoning them with salt and black pepper. Cook the shrimp for about 2 to 3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Once done, set the shrimp aside.
Now, prepare the sides. Warm the mashed potatoes in a pot over low heat, adding heavy cream and a pat of butter to make them extra creamy. Stir occasionally until fully heated. In a separate pan, sauté the Brussels sprouts with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and lightly caramelized.
To assemble the plate, place a generous scoop of mashed potatoes on a serving dish. Add the sautéed Brussels sprouts next to the potatoes. Arrange the cooked steak and shrimp around the sides. Drizzle the leftover garlic butter from the shrimp over the steak and shrimp for an added burst of flavor. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
Serve immediately, and enjoy your indulgent surf and turf feast with your favorite sauce on the side.
