Cheesy Garbage Bread Delight
Ingredients:
1 loaf of crusty bread (about 1 pound), sliced into 1-inch thick slices
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 (15 ounce) can of pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup pepperoni, sliced
1/2 cup cooked sausage, crumbled (Italian sausage recommended)
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/4 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1/4 cup sliced green bell peppers (optional)
1/4 cup onion, thinly sliced (optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Arrange the bread slices in a single layer in the prepared baking dish, slightly overlapping if necessary to cover the bottom.
3. Brush the top of the bread slices evenly with half of the melted butter.
4. Spread half of the pizza sauce over the buttered bread.
5. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce.
6. Evenly distribute half of the pepperoni, sausage, black olives, mushrooms (if using), green peppers (if using), and onions (if using) over the mozzarella cheese.
7. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese over the toppings.
8. Repeat layers 3-7: brush the remaining bread slices with the remaining melted butter, spread the remaining pizza sauce, sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese, top with the remaining pepperoni, sausage, olives, mushrooms (if using), green peppers (if using), and onions (if using), and finally sprinkle with the remaining cheddar cheese.
9. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mixture evenly over the top layer of cheese.
10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown, and the bread is heated through.
11. Let the cheesy garbage bread cool slightly before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
