Cheeseburger Pockets
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (you can also use ground turkey or chicken)
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, American, or a mix)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 package of pizza dough (or use puff pastry, crescent roll dough, or biscuit dough if you prefer)
- Olive oil (for frying or brushing on dough)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat.
3. Stir in the ketchup, mustard (if using), salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
4. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and cut into squares about 4-5 inches wide.
5. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto the center of each dough square, then top with shredded cheese.
6. Fold the dough over to create a pocket and pinch the edges together to seal tightly.
7. Place the pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil.
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
