π Ingredients:
For the Patties:
Β½ lb (225g) ground beef (80/20 blend for max juiciness)
Salt & pepper to taste
For the Crispy Onions:
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp oil
Pinch of salt
For the Build:
4 slices American cheese
2 sesame seed burger buns
Butter for toasting buns
Optional: pickles, mustard, or burger sauce
π₯ Instructions:
Crispy Onions:
1οΈβ£ Heat butter and oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
2οΈβ£ Add diced onions, season with salt, and cook until dark and crispy (not just caramelized β we want that char). Set aside.
Smash Patties:
1οΈβ£ Divide beef into 4 equal loose balls (donβt pack tight).
2οΈβ£ Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle until screaming hot.
3οΈβ£ Add beef balls, smash them flat with a spatula (use parchment paper if needed), and season with salt & pepper.
4οΈβ£ Cook 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip.
5οΈβ£ Immediately top each patty with a slice of cheese. Let it melt while the second side finishes.
Toast the Buns:
1οΈβ£ Butter the buns and toast them in the same pan until golden brown.
Assemble:
1οΈβ£ Bottom bun β cheesy patty β crispy onions β another cheesy patty β top bun.
2οΈβ£ Optional: Add pickles or your fave burger sauce for that final hit.
π Serve & Devour!
Wrap it in parchment for that burger joint look or go straight in. This oneβs napkin-worthy. π₯π₯
