3. 1 cup granulated sugar
4. 2 teaspoons baking powder
5. 1/2 teaspoon salt
6. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
7. 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
8. 2 large eggs
9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

11. 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
12. 1/2 cup heavy cream
13. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
14. German Chocolate Frosting
15. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
16. 2 cups confectioners' sugar
17. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
18. 2 ounces German chocolate, melted
19. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
20. Optional Toppings
21. Chopped pecans or walnuts
22. Chocolate shavings
23. Whipped cream

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. Prepare Cake: Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Combine cocoa powder and milk. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Pour into prepared baking dish.
3. Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
4. Poke Filling: Whisk sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream and vanilla. Poke holes in warm cake with a skewer or fork. Pour filling over cake.
5. German Chocolate Frosting: Beat butter and confectioners' sugar. Add cocoa powder, melted chocolate and vanilla.
6. Assemble: Spread frosting over cooled cake. Top with chopped nuts or chocolate shavings, if desired.
