Marble Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
For the cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
For the chocolate marble:
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp hot water
1/4 cup sugar (optional, for a richer chocolate flavor)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch cake pan (or 9x5-inch loaf pan).
2. Make the batter:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth.
3. Prepare the chocolate swirl:
In a small bowl, dissolve the cocoa powder in hot water, mixing until smooth. Optionally, stir in the 1/4 cup sugar to make the chocolate richer.
4. Assemble the marble cake:
Divide the batter in half. To one half, add the cocoa mixture and mix until well combined.
Drop alternating spoonfuls of the plain and chocolate batters into the prepared pan.
Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the two batters together to create a marbled effect.
5. Bake the cake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Cool and serve:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
