🍏 Caramel Apple Puff Pastry 🍏
Flaky, buttery puff pastry filled with warm spiced caramel apples—perfect for a cozy dessert or an elegant treat!
🛒 Ingredients
For the Puff Pastry:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
For the Caramel Apple Filling:
2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp granulated sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (slurry)
¼ cup caramel sauce
🍽️ Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Apple Filling
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and add diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Cook for 5-7 minutes until apples are soft and caramelized.
Stir in vanilla extract and cornstarch slurry, then cook for 1-2 more minutes until thickened.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
2️⃣ Prepare the Puff Pastry
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into rectangles or squares.
Lightly score a border around each piece (do not cut through).
Mix the egg and water to create an egg wash and brush it along the edges.
Sprinkle a little sugar on the edges for extra crispness.
3️⃣ Assemble & Bake
Spoon the caramel apple filling into the center of each pastry, staying within the border.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.
