Apple Sauce Spice Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup unsweetened applesauce
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup chopped walnuts or raisins (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
Mix wet ingredients: In a separate large bowl, whisk together applesauce, sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Add dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. If you're adding walnuts or raisins, fold them into the batter.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. You can frost it with cream cheese frosting if desired, or enjoy it plain.
