Β½ cup granulated sugar
ΒΌ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
ΒΌ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
ΒΌ cup water
Optional Toppings:

Chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts work well)
Instructions:
Prepare the Apples:
Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Toss them gently with lemon juice to prevent browning while you prepare the other ingredients.
Slow Cooker Method:
In your slow cooker, combine the apple slices, butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Stir everything together until the apples are evenly coated. Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours or on high for 1½–2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.
Instant Pot Method:
Add all the ingredients to your Instant Pot. Secure the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on manual high pressure for 5 minutes. Once done, allow for a natural release for 5 minutes before carefully releasing any remaining pressure. Open the lid and stir to combine.
