Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce
Ingredients:
4 cups (8 slices) cubed white bread
1/2 cup raisins
2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Sauce Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
• 1 tablespoon vanilla
Instructions:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine bread and raisins in a large bowl.
2️⃣ In a saucepan, heat milk and 1/4 cup butter until melted (4-7 minutes). Pour over bread and let stand for 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Stir in remaining pudding ingredients and pour into a greased 1.5-quart casserole. Bake for 40-50 minutes until set in the center.
For the Sauce:
4️⃣ In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients except vanilla. Cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened and boiling (5-8 minutes). Stir in vanilla.
5️⃣ Serve warm pudding with the sauce. Enjoy this delightful treat!
