This Orange Drizzle Cake Traybake is a zesty twist on the classic British traybake! Soft, buttery sponge infused with fresh orange, topped with a sweet orange drizzle and icingβperfect for afternoon tea or a cheeky treat.
π Ingredients
For the Cake:
π Oranges β 2, zest and juice
π§ Unsalted Butter β 200g, softened
π― Caster Sugar β 200g
π₯ Eggs β 4, beaten
π Self-Raising Flour β 200g
π’ Milk β 2 tbsp
For the Drizzle:
π Orange Juice β 3 tbsp
π Icing Sugar β 75g
For the Icing:
π Icing Sugar β 150g
π Orange Juice β 2 tbsp

1οΈβ£ Preheat & Prepare: Preheat your oven to 180Β°C (fan 160Β°C) / Gas Mark 4. Grease and line a 20cm x 30cm traybake tin with baking paper.
2οΈβ£ Make the Sponge: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the beaten eggs, mixing well. Fold in the self-raising flour, then stir in the orange zest and milk until combined.
3οΈβ£ Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared tin and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
4οΈβ£ Prepare the Drizzle: While the cake is still warm, mix the orange juice and icing sugar, then poke small holes all over the sponge with a skewer. Pour the drizzle over the cake and let it soak in.
5οΈβ£ Make the Icing: Once the cake has cooled completely, mix the icing sugar with the orange juice to make a thick icing. Drizzle or spread over the top.
6οΈβ£ Decorate & Serve: Sprinkle with extra orange zest for a fresh, vibrant finish. Slice into squares and enjoy!
