Poor Man's Husband Casserole
Economical Family-Style Beef and Noodle Bake
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs ground beef
2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
8 oz egg noodles
1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a skillet over medium-high heat, sauté the ground beef until completely browned. Drain any excess grease.
Add Italian seasoning and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 30 seconds.
Stir in the tomato sauce and sugar, seasoning with salt and pepper, and sauté for 3-5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream and cream cheese until well combined.
Cook the egg noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain.
In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked noodles.
Top the noodles with half of the cream cheese mixture, then half of the meat sauce.
Repeat the layering with the remaining noodles, cream cheese mixture, and meat sauce.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
