Caramel Apple Puff Pastry
Ingredients:
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/3 cup caramel sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon until evenly coated.
3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth creases.
4. Spread caramel sauce over the center of the pastry, leaving about a 1-inch border all around.
5. Arrange the apple slices over the caramel in a single layer.
6. Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the apples to create a rustic tart, pinching the corners slightly to seal.
7. Brush the melted butter over the pastry edges and then brush the beaten egg on the entire pastry for a golden finish.
8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, and the apples are tender.
9. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.
10. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Tips:
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced sweet-tart flavor that complements caramel.
Chill the puff pastry before baking to help it puff up nicely and prevent sogginess.
