Velvety Red Tea Cake Delight ☕🍰
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tbsp red food coloring
1 tsp white vinegar
1/2 cup hot water
For the Vanilla Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf or bundt pan.
Sift the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Cream the Wet Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Color the Batter:
Mix in buttermilk and red food coloring until the batter takes on a vibrant red hue. Stir in white vinegar and hot water, ensuring a smooth, even texture.
Combine Wet and Dry:
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Prepare the Glaze:
While the cake cools, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
Finish and Serve:
Once the cake is fully cooled, drizzle the vanilla glaze over the top. Slice and serve with a steaming cup of tea!
