Easy Apple Cake With Caramel Glaze
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
Optional Caramel Glaze:
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pure vanilla
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and dark brown sugar until well blended.
4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
5. Stir in Greek yogurt and vanilla extract until smooth.
6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
7. Fold in chopped apples gently.
8. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
10. Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the caramel glaze:
1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
2. Add brown sugar, heavy cream, and salt; stir until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to bubble.
3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
4. Drizzle glaze over cooled cake before serving.
