Blue Moon Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- Blue food coloring
- 1/4 cup maraschino cherries (optional)
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
2. Add the vanilla extract and almond extract to the mixture, stirring well to ensure even distribution of flavors.
3. Gradually add drops of blue food coloring to the mixture, stirring continuously until the desired shade of blue is achieved. Adjust the amount of food coloring as needed.
4. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically for about 20-25 minutes, until the ice cream reaches a fluffy and well-blended consistency.
5. If using maraschino cherries, gently fold them into the churned ice cream for added color and sweetness.
6. Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place it in the freezer. Allow it to freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm and scoopable.
7. Once fully frozen, scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones and serve immediately.
