πΎ Sourdough Starter πΎ
π₯ Ingredients:
Day 1:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup water (room temperature)
Day 2-7:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup water (room temperature)
Directions:
Day 1 - Create the Initial Mixture:
In a clean glass jar or bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and water. Stir well until fully combined.
Cover the jar loosely with a cloth or lid and leave it at room temperature (ideally between 68-75Β°F or 20-24Β°C) for 24 hours.
Day 2-7 - Feed the Starter:
After 24 hours, you should see some bubbles in the mixture, indicating fermentation.
Discard half of the starter mixture. Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of water to the remaining starter. Stir well.
Cover loosely and let it sit at room temperature for another 24 hours.
Repeat this process every day for the next 5 days. By the end of Day 7, your starter should be bubbly, have a pleasant tangy aroma, and be ready for baking.
