Christmas Shortbread Cookies
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ⅔ cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Holiday sprinkles, jimmies or nonpareils
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts until well combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
6. Roll the dough into small balls, place on the prepared baking sheet, and gently flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass.
7. Sprinkle holiday sprinkles, jimmies, or nonpareils on top of each cookie.
8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden.
9. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:
