π Homemade Kool-Aid Fruit Roll-Ups π¬
Ingredients
1 cup (240g) unsweetened applesauce
1 packet (0.13 oz) Kool-Aid drink mix
2 tbsp (30ml) honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
Optional: 1-2 drops food coloring (for extra vibrancy)
Instructions
1. Preheat and Prep:
Preheat your oven to 170Β°F (75Β°C) or the lowest setting available. Line a large baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. If using parchment paper, lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
2. Mix the Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce, Kool-Aid drink mix, and honey (or maple syrup). Stir until the mixture is smooth and the Kool-Aid is fully dissolved. For a more vibrant look, add 1-2 drops of food coloring and mix well.
3. Spread the Mixture:
Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it into a thin, even layer, about β
-inch thick. Make sure the edges are even to ensure uniform drying.
4. Dry in the Oven:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 4-6 hours, or until the mixture is dry to the touch and no longer sticky. The drying time will vary depending on your oven and the thickness of the layer. Check periodically to avoid over-drying.
5. Cool and Cut:
Once fully dried, remove the baking sheet from the oven and let it cool completely. Use kitchen scissors, a pizza cutter, or a sharp knife to cut the dried fruit mixture into strips or rectangles.
6. Roll and Store:
Roll up each strip tightly and store them in an airtight container or wrap them individually in plastic wrap. Theyβll keep for up to 2 weeks at room temperature.
