Homemade Egg Drop Soup
Ingredients:
1 carton of chicken stock
Chicken base, to enhance flavor (optional)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 eggs
Scallions, thinly sliced, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Broth: In a pot, pour the chicken stock and add chicken base, if desired, to enhance the flavor. Stir in the garlic powder and bring the broth to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Whisk the Eggs: While the broth is heating, crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk them until well beaten. Set aside.
Add Eggs to Broth: Once the broth reaches a gentle boil, slowly pour the beaten eggs into the pot in a steady stream, while stirring the broth gently in a circular motion with a spoon or chopsticks.
Instant Cooking: As you pour the eggs into the broth, they will instantly cook and form delicate ribbons. Continue stirring gently for a few seconds to ensure the eggs are evenly distributed throughout the soup.
Garnish and Serve: Remove the pot from the heat immediately to prevent the eggs from overcooking. Ladle the Egg Drop Soup into serving bowls and garnish with thinly sliced scallions for added freshness and flavor.
