Cream Cheese Brownies
Ingredients
For the Brownie Layer:
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 large eggs
1 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Cream Cheese Layer:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Swirling:
Additional cocoa powder or melted chocolate (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the brownie layer: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt butter and mix with sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Fold in flour until just combined. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
Make the cream cheese layer: Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla, mixing until just combined. Dollop over the brownie batter in the pan.
Create swirls: Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. Cool completely before slicing.
Serve: Enjoy these creamy, chocolatey brownies as is, or dust with cocoa powder or drizzle with melted chocolate for an extra touch of decadence.
