🍧 Homemade Orange Sherbet 🍊
Ingredients
1 cup fresh orange juice (about 3–4 medium oranges)
1 tablespoon finely grated orange zest (optional, for extra flavor)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups heavy whipping cream
Pinch of salt
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the fresh orange juice, orange zest (if using), sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
In a separate large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overmix.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the orange mixture in three parts, using a spatula to maintain the light and airy texture. Mix until no streaks remain and the sherbet base is uniform.
Pour the sherbet mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe container with a lid. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Cover the container and freeze for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight, until firm. For best results, stir the mixture with a fork every hour during the first 3 hours of freezing to break up ice crystals and ensure a smooth texture.
Once frozen, scoop the sherbet into bowls or cones and serve immediately. Store any leftovers in the freezer, covered tightly.
