- 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)

📝 Instructions
1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold until no streaks of flour remain. (Optional) Fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
2: Divide batter into cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full. Bake for 18–22 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes; then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
3: For ganache, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract and let cool until thickened but pourable.
4: Spoon or drizzle ganache over cooled cupcakes, or dip tops into ganache. Add toppings if desired, such as sprinkles or a dusting of powdered sugar.
