Black Velvet Cake
Ingredients:
1¾ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp black gel food coloring
1 cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vinegar, black food coloring, sugars, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth. Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely before frosting with cream cheese or chocolate frosting.
