Double BBQ Cheddar Burger with Cheesy Fries

Ingredients:

For the Burger Patties:

1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

4 slices sharp cheddar cheese

2 sesame seed burger buns

2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)

For the BBQ Sauce:

1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 tbsp honey (optional, for extra sweetness)

1/2 tsp chipotle powder or smoked paprika (for kick)

For the Cheese Sauce:

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 cup whole milk

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Salt, to taste

For the Fries:

2 large russet potatoes, cut into fries (or frozen fries)

2 tbsp vegetable oil

Salt, to taste

Instructions:

Make the Cheese Sauce:

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.

Stir in cheddar cheese until melted and velvety. Season with salt. Keep warm.

Cook the Fries:

Toss cut fries with oil and salt.

Bake at 425°F (220°C) or air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.

Drizzle with warm cheese sauce just before serving.

Make the Patties:

Divide beef into 4 equal portions, form into patties.

Season both sides with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.

Cook in a skillet or grill over medium-high heat, 3–4 minutes per side.

In the last minute, place a slice of cheddar on each patty and let melt.

Toast the Buns:

Butter the insides of each bun and toast in a pan until golden.

Assemble the Burger:

Place one cheesy patty on the bottom bun. Drizzle with BBQ sauce.

Stack the second cheesy patty on top and add more BBQ sauce.

Top with the sesame bun lid.

Plate & Serve:

Serve the burger on a tray lined with parchment.

Add a heap of crispy fries, drizzle more cheese sauce over the fries and let it naturally cascade from the burger.
