Decadent Yellow Layer Cake – Buttery, Moist, and Classic
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
For the Chocolate Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup heavy cream
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Step 2: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
Step 4: Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, mixing until smooth.
Step 5: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
Step 6: Prepare the frosting – Beat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined. Add vanilla extract and heavy cream, whipping until smooth and fluffy.
Step 7: Assemble the cake by spreading frosting between the layers and over the top and sides. Slice and enjoy!
