Ingredients:
8 slices of sandwich bread
2 large bananas
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1 cup whole milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Butter for frying
Confectioners' sugar for dusting
Optional: crushed nuts or maple syrup for topping
Instructions:
Prep the Bread:
Trim the crusts off the bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
Make the Filling:
In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and a little sugar to taste. Spread evenly on one side of each bread slice.
Slice bananas into thin pieces and place on top of the cream cheese.
Roll 'em Up:
Roll up each slice tightly to enclose the bananas. Press lightly to seal.
Dip and Cook:
In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Heat a skillet and melt some butter over medium heat.
Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, soaking briefly, and then place in the skillet.
Fry until golden brown all around, turning as needed.
Serve:
Dust with confectioners' sugar, add a drizzle of maple syrup, or sprinkle some crushed nuts on top for extra crunch. 🥞🍯🥜
